Meet The Board
Lynne Barton - Chair I’ve been the Chair of playtrain’s management committee since September 2005, following a period serving as a board member. I’m a qualified teacher but have subsequently worked extensively in the public sector in Education, Health and Social Care. I have also experienced working in the voluntary sector with the play group movement whilst my three children were small.
I am currently the Co-ordinating Manager for the Integrated Disability Service in Warwickshire, aimed at bringing together services for disabled children. I have recently become a grandmother and am constantly reminded of the awe and wonder young children find in this world. playtrain helps practitioners to harness this phenomenon.
Graham Lowther - Board Member
I first got involved with playtrain in 2001 by attending an Article 31 event at Symphony Hall. I joined the management committee shortly afterwards, impressed with the values and creativity of the organisation.
Having trained as a Community & Youth worker in the 1980’s I was committed to values based work and in particular the issues around the rights of the child. I worked for 13 years for The Children’s Society, running a family centre based on an estate in Walsall. I am currently a Sure Start manager in Burton-on-Trent and have responsibility for the Outreach Programme as part of the East Staffs Children’s Centre. I think that playtrain is a vibrant and exciting organisation that offers insights into the often untapped world of children’s skills and resources.
Harpreet Jutlla - Board Member
I joined the playtrain team as a voluntary board member in 2006. My background is in advocacy for the Arts and Creative Industries, through Marketing and PR.
Previously I have worked at mac (Midlands Arts Centre) as the Marketing Assistant and later the PR Officer. Recently I took up a new role as the Marketing Co-ordinator for Tribal’s Community Development Team, another area that interests me. I was attracted to playtrain as I believe that everyone should be treated with respect and valued for their individuality - children are at the centre of this belief and I know that this value is shared with my colleagues at playtrain.
Almost a year on from when I joined the team, I continue to feel proud and passionate about the work playtrain does, promoting the rights of the child through awareness, intelligence, creative play and lots of messy fun!
