Consultation
The Playtrain Children’s Consultation Scheme is a practical initiative which enables children and young people of all ages to act as specialist consultants to service providers in the arts, culture, health and leisure sectors. It improves the quality of service for children and their families and, at the same time, helps to implement the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The scheme enables children and young people’s views to be taken into account in decisions that directly affect them.
Since the schemes inception in 1999, Playtrain has devised and delivered numerous projects nationwide, working with hundreds of children and young people to ensure that they have a say in how they want to play. We have worked in partnership with museums, galleries, parks services, play centres, theatres, after school clubs, arts venues and hospitals.
We work with clients and partners to tailor make projects that:
- enable children to participate in planning and decision making
- use creative arts to encourage expression and participation
- encourage adults and children to work in partnership
For more details, please see Our Approach and Examples of Projects. If you would like to talk to us about how to involve children and young people in the planning and delivery of your services, please get in touch through Contact Us.
